The University of Michigan Dentistry Postdoc Committee (UM-DPC) is committed to enhancing the academic, professional, and social experiences of postdoctoral scholars in the School of Dentistry. Our mission is to provide support, advocacy, and resources tailored to the unique needs of dental postdocs, fostering a vibrant and engaging community. UM-DPC serves as a platform to address specific concerns and interests of postdoctoral fellows within the School of Dentistry. By facilitating open communication and career development, we aim to cultivate an environment that promotes innovation, growth, and networking within the School and beyond. Our initiatives include organizing workshops, social gatherings, and networking events that provide trainees with avenues to enhance their career training and gain valuable insights from peers and mentors. We are dedicated to equipping dentistry postdocs with the skills and connections necessary for career success.

- Facilitates regular committee meetings and guides discussions to achieve action-oriented outcomes.

- Coordinates with IT to manage shared resources like Dropbox and the committee’s documentation.
- Records and distributes meeting notes, ensuring all members are informed of decisions and action items.
- Manages communication channels and schedules monthly meetings using tools like When2Meet.

- Oversees the committee’s financial planning, including budgeting and tracking expenses.
- Develops and communicates budget templates that align spending with strategic goals.
- Regularly updates the committee on financial matters and advocates for resources to support postdoc initiatives.

- Plan and organize social events and networking opportunities to foster community and engagement among postdocs.
- Maintain the mission and values of the UM-DPC and the University of Michigan in all activities.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including booking spaces, arranging catering, and creating promotional materials.
- Enhance outreach and communication using social media and other platforms to engage members.
