Secure wireless is available throughout the school. Students routinely use their laptops and tablets to take notes during classes. Michigan lead the campus and the nation in developing lecture capture systems, also known as podcasting, in 2004. Since 2004 students have run the lecture capture system including getting permission from faculty, selecting which lectures to record and suggesting improvements to the system.
Students listen or watch lectures on their laptops, phones or other devices. Faculty work hard to make classes interactive. They use a variety of tools to do this. A few tools include “clickers,” online course resources and assignments, and electronic portfolios. Digital impression equipment is some of the computerized dentistry equipment dental students learn to use.
A new post-graduate program in computerized dentistry includes chairside CAD/CAM as well as additional virtual dental techniques.
