To be considered for admission

All applicants must do the following:

  • Electronically submit an application online to AADSAS. 
  • Submit three letters of recommendation through AADSAS.  Two letters must be from science instructors, the third can be from a non-science instructor such as a previous employer, dentist, clergy member, or other.
  • Release UM School of Dentistry on the ADA website to receive official DAT scores through AADSAS.
  • When requested, submit an application fee to the University of Michigan.
Application & admissions timeline
June Applications available online from the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS).
June AADSAS begins processing applications.
September - January Approximately 400 applicants receive personal invitations to visit the U-M School of Dentistry for an interview.
December 1 The earliest date a candidate can be expected to be notified of their acceptance. This is also the final day a student can apply to dental school through AADSAS.
  Once accepted, a candidate has 30 days to pay their non-refundable enrollment deposit of $1500.  These funds are applied to first semester tuition.
March 1 New first-year dental class filled. Admissions Committee selects alternates and ranks them.
Late June New first-year dental class arrives and begins classes.
