Dr. Chan graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1997 from Chung Shan Medical University, School of Dentistry in Taichung, Taiwan. She then joined as a full-time Staff in the Dental Department of the Show-Chawn Memorial Hospital until 2004. She was in charge of the restorative and pediatric dentistry resident training programs. She received her specialty certificate and MS in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry in 2008. Currently, she is part-time faculty as adjunct clinical lecturer in the Department of Orthodontic and Pediatric Dentistry, as well as a research scholar in Dr. Hu’s lab.Dr. Chan’s research is focused on the interaction between oral disease and systemic condition, especially investigating how the periodontal disease will affect the pregnancy outcome by utilizing the BANA test N-benzoyl-DL-arginine-2-naphthylamide). She joined Dr. Hu’s lab and focuses on mutational analysis, investigating genetic mutations associated with enamel and dentin structures.
