Dr. James Boynton (Dr. Jimmy to his patients) is the Director of Pediatric Dentistry.  After completing his DDS and pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Michigan, he worked in a public health clinic providing care for underprivileged children.  He was recruited back to the University of Michigan in 2005 and has become very involved in education, teaching nine classes to pre-doctoral students and pediatric dentistry residents, in addition to clinical teaching. Dr. Boynton has many research interests, including dental education, use of technology in pediatric dentistry, and primary pulp therapy.  He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, is an active member in many dental organizations, and maintains an active private practice at both the School of Dentistry and at U-M Mott Children's Hospital.
