Committees
Program Committee
The Program Committee is composed of four members of the Program Faculty, elected by the Program Faculty for staggered three-year terms on a rotating basis, and the Program Director. The responsibilities of the Program Committee are to:

  • Approve membership of the faculty in the program
  • Consider recommendations from the Admissions Committee for admission of students into the program
  • Make recommendations about use of available funds for student support
  • Appoint an academic advisor for each student on admission of the student into the program
  • Review student grades at the end of each academic term
  • Evaluate overall student progress annually
  • Approve membership of the Dissertation Committee for each student
  • Appoint faculty members to the Admissions and Seminar Committees and any ad hoc committees
  • Periodically review the admission and academic requirements and curriculum of the program and make recommendations about any necessary changes to the Program Faculty
  • Coordinate recruitment activities for the program.

Admissions Committee
The Admissions Committee is composed of four members of the Program Faculty, appointed by the Program Committee for staggered three-year terms. The Admissions Committee will:

  • Evaluate student applications that are received from the Admissions Office of the Rackham School for Graduate Studies (via the School of Dentistry Office of Admissions)
  • Arrange and organize student interviews
  • Make recommendations regarding admissions to the Program Committee.

Seminar Committee
The Seminar Committee is composed of four members of the Program Faculty and at least one student in the program, all appointed by the Program Committee for staggered two-year terms. The committee will organize an ongoing oral health sciences seminar series, journal clubs, and other periodic seminars and symposia.
