About the Program

The Postgraduate Preceptorship Program is a non-degree granting program* designed to offer domestic and internationally trained dentists an opportunity to spend a specified amount of time in residence at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry pursuing educational enrichment, collaboration and study.  In some programs there is an opportunity to perform a limited amount of patient care.

Although each clinical discipline has unique features, the curriculum generally includes:

  • classes with graduate dental students
  • special reading assignments and discussions
  • observation of advanced dental procedures
  • state of the art seminars
  • hands-on workshops
  • personalized instruction
  • group activities

The program provides an exceptional academic exposure and experience and upon fulfillment of the program requirements, students receive a certificate of completion*.

* Note to internationally-educated dentists: This program WILL NOT prepare dentists to become licensed to practice dentistry in Michigan.
