Dr. Robert Eber is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and the Director of Clinical Research for the School of Dentistry. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He currently serves as a Director, and acting Treasurer, of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Eber received his DDS from Indiana University and his MS and Certificate in Periodontology from The Ohio State University. Dr. Eber previously served as a clinical faculty member at The Ohio State University and Indiana University, and he was in private practice limited to periodontics in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he also served as a Director of the Indianapolis District Dental Society, IDDS Delegate to the Indiana Dental Association, and IDDS component editor for the Indiana Dental Journal.

At the University of Michigan, he has served as a Vertically Integrated Clinic Director, Associate Chair for the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine, Director of the Pathways Program and Director of the Healthcare Delivery Pathway. Currently, he is a representative for UMSoD for IRB MED at the University of Michigan Medical School.

He is a past president of the Midwest Society of Periodontology, past president of the Russell W. Bunting Periodontal Society, and past president of the Michigan chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is a member of the American College of Dentists and is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is an alumnus of the American Dental Education Associations Leadership Institute.

Dr. Eber’s research interests are nonsurgical and surgical treatment of periodontitis, periodontal plastic surgery and dental implants. He maintains a faculty practice limited to periodontics and implant surgery.
