Molecular Biology has provided the tools for significant advancements in science, such as the "Human Genome Project". The practice of contemporary dentistry will require an increasing knowledge of molecular biology since paradigms of modern therapeutics are shifting towards the biological regeneration of tissues. This is clearly demonstrated by an increasing number of publications suggesting the use of theapeutic strategies such as the application of biological inducers of dentinogenesis for the restoration of teeth with deep caries of pulp exposures, and the inducers of bone regeneration for the treatment of periodontal disease. The focus of this course is translating basic molecular biology into the daily practice of contemporary clinical dentistry.
