The Office of Continuing Dental Education is proud to be part of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry’s 140 year commitment to providing outstanding education in the dental field. We offer a wide range of innovative educational programs to assist you in growing your practice or in meeting your state licensure requirements. Our courses are open to all dental professionals.

AM - Human Trafficking & From Victim to Warrior
This course will seek to spread awareness of the issue of human trafficking while educating and equipping participants to address this injustice in their own communities and throughout the State of Michigan.
Reducing Opioid Abuse: Mechanisms and Strategies for Safer and More Effective Pain Management
This course is designed to provide a framework for better assessment and treatment of acute and chronic pain and avoid the opioid abuse by describing novel evidence-based, rational and safe clinical practices.

This course will seek to provide participants with contemporary information regarding new developments in personalized dentistry and orthodontics. Speakers will present contemporary customized treatment methods for improved patient outcomes and practitioner satisfaction including incorporation of 3D imaging diagnostic techniques, contemporary soft and hard tissue analyses, computer-aided treatments, utilization of temporary anchorage devices, and the potential use of biomarkers and genetics for improved patient centered diagnoses and efficiency of orthodontic practice.

Many foreign dentists take ​several​ years ​to ​find ​their feet​ in the United​States​ and acquire licensure ​and ​employment ​in the dental​ profession. Many foreign dentists spend​ years in ​underemployment ​and may​ suffer ​unmeasured consequences of this ​such ​as lack of fulfillment and depression. This course is designed to fast ​track​ the ​learning​ of foreign dentists ​about the ​US healthcare ​system, the ​US dental profession, the ​US educational system and the cultural differences that ​will​strengthen ​their application and performance in an interview.
