Ann Arbor, MI — February 18, 2015 — Dental and dental hygiene students, along with residents and clinical faculty from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry will volunteer their time on Saturday, March 28, providing free oral health care services to children ages 5 to 14. The annual event, Give Kids a Smile, is a part of the American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile program launched in 2003.
Oral care will be provided on the second floor at the School of Dentistry, 1011 N. University Ave. on the Central Campus. Important times for the March 28 program are:
· 8:00 a.m. – Doors open
· 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – Registration
· 9:00 a.m. – Students, faculty, residents begin providing care
It is not necessary to make an appointment. A parent or guardian must register each child at the time of arrival. Children will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Supervised by clinical faculty, dental and dental hygiene students will provide teeth cleanings, sealants, X-rays, and simple fillings. If necessary, some extractions may also be performed.
Free parking will be available on the upper level of the Fletcher Street parking structure which is adjacent to the School of Dentistry.
