Ann Arbor, MI — March 23, 2012 — The American Dental Education Association honored Dr. Marilyn Woolfolk, assistant dean for Student Services at the U-M School of Dentistry, for her contributions to dental education and the Association.

Woolfolk was one of seven leaders from across the country to receive a Presidential Citation from ADEA President Leo Rouse during the organization’s annual session.  He said Woolfolk and the six others “are extraordinary leaders who have made major contributions to both dental education and ADEA.”

Rouse said Woolfolk, “has dedicated her career to increasing access to health professions education, coordinating and evaluating community-based education, and increasing the diversity of the health care work force.”  He also cited her scholarly activities, publications, and teaching that have focused on documenting the oral health status of special populations and the effects of race and ethnicity on oral health-related quality of life.

“I was honored to receive the Presidential Citation,” Woolfolk said, “and the opportunities I have had to serve ADEA in various roles throughout the years.”
