Ann Arbor, MI — July 11, 2012 — Dr. Marita Inglehart, associate professor in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine has been named a fellow of the Association of Psychological Science (APS).  Fellowship status is awarded to APS Members who made sustained outstanding contributions to the science of psychology in the areas of research, teaching, and/or application. This year, Inglehart is one of 79 individuals elected nationally to fellow status. Inglehart's research focuses on the way oral health is affected by psychosocial and behavioral factors and in turn, how oral health affects patients' quality of life.

The APS (previously the American Psychological Society), is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of scientific psychology and its representation at the national and international level. Its mission is to promote, protect, and advance the interests of scientifically oriented psychology in research, application, teaching, and the improvement of human welfare.
