Fontana Receives Presidential Early Career Award
Ann Arbor, MI — July 23, 2012 — Dr. Margherita Fontana, an associate professor of dentistry in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics, is one of three U-M researchers to receive the nation’s highest honor for professionals that marks the start of their independent research.
Fontana was nominated by the National Institutes of Health for her studies on predicting caries risk for underserved toddlers in primary health care settings.
The Presidential Early Career Award embodies the highest priorities for our Nation’s health initiatives and recognizes the most gifted scientists and engineers whose early accomplishments show the greatest promise for assuring America’s preeminence in science and engineering.
