Lantz New MICHR Associate Director

Ann Arbor, MI — January 20, 2012 — Dr. Marilyn Lantz, professor of dentistry in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, is the new associate director for education, career development, and mentoring at the Michigan Institute for Clinical Health and Research (MICHR).

As associate director, Lantz will oversee transdisciplinary clinical and translational training programs at undergraduate graduate, postdoctoral, faculty and staff levels.  She will also be responsible for planning and implementing new activities ranging from workshops and courses to certificate and degree programs. 

MICHR’s mission is to increase the quality, quantity, and impact of clinical and translational research produced by teams from the health sciences including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, engineering, kinesiology, and the Institute for Social Research, among others.  The Education and Career Development Core supports more than 50 clinical research trainees at master and postdoctoral levels.

Lantz will lead a multidisciplinary team of 9 to 12 highly experienced faculty involved in MICHR training and mentoring programs.  She will also serve as a member of MICHR’s executive cabinet and supervise a staff of six.

Lantz will continue her work at the School of Dentistry three days a week and serve at MICHR two days a week, beginning Feb. 1.
