Ann Arbor, MI — January 9, 2012 — Dental and dental hygiene students and faculty from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry will be providing free oral health care services to children ages 5 to 12 on Saturday, Feb. 4, as part of the American Dental Association’s annual nationwide program.

The event takes place on the second floor of the School of Dentistry, 1011 N. University Avenue, on the Central Campus.  Doors open for registration at 8:00 a.m.  A parent or guardian must be present to register a child.

Children will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis beginning an hour later, at 9:00.  An appointment is not necessary.  Because of the time and resources, services will only be provided to the first 100 patients.  After the first 100 patients are registered, the doors will close.

Under the supervision of faculty, dental and dental hygiene students will provide teeth cleanings, sealants, X-rays, and simple fillings.  If necessary, some extractions may also be performed.

Free parking will be available on the upper level of the Fletcher Street parking structure adjacent to the School of Dentistry.

Give Kids a Smile is hosted by the U-M School of Dentistry and the Washtenaw District Dental Society.  For more information, call the U-M School of Dentistry at (734) 763-6933 or (888) 707-2500.
