Lucas-Perry ADEA VP for Students
Ann Arbor, MI — April 21, 2011 — Evelyn Lucas-Perry, a fourth-year dental student at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, has been re-elected as a vice president to the American Dental Education Association’s Board of Directors. She is one of 11 members, and the only one from the U-M School of Dentistry, on the organization’s Board.
Lucas-Perry, who will receive her dental degree next month and is also pursuing a master’s degree in public health, was elected to a second one-year term as ADEA Vice President for Students, Residents, and Fellows during the organization’s annual session in March.
During the past year, she was involved in drafting a three-year strategic plan for ADEA that encompassed many of the concerns expressed by the Council of Students, Residents, and Fellows. In addition, Lucas-Perry has given presentations at ADEA’s fall meetings and the annual session on topics that include outreach by dental students and Lunch and Learn seminars.
She is a member of ADEA’s Future of Advanced Dental Education Admissions committee that is developing recommendations on how those in charge of advanced dental degree programs could evaluate prospective students without using National Board scores. Lucas-Perry is also a member of a task force that will develop guidelines on commercial relationships between industry and dental organizations.
