Faculty affirm curriculum innovation proposal
Our outstanding predoctoral curriculum is about to get even better. On January 6, 2010, the faculty demonstrated overwhelming support to move forward with the “curriculum innovation proposal” synthesizing the work of six major faculty committees into on a “concept map” that features:
- Broad-based methods to enhance the links between basic and clinical sciences within the curriculum to promote evidence-based dentistry,
- Flexibility of student pathways through dental school,
- Opportunities for earlier clinical care experiences,
- Enriched learning experiences highlighting new oral health careers of tomorrow
The concept map, pictured above, provides the foundation for developing the details needed to implement the plan and the first step in realizing the vision of a new model for dental education.
Dean Polverini expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Vision Implementation Steering Committee and members of the planning teams for their leadership, hard work and commitment to the this exciting new proposal.
