Dr. Eugene BuattiDr. Eugene Buatti, born in South Lyon, Michigan, started his dental career at the University of Detroit's pre-dental program before moving on to University of Michigan's School of Dentistry, graduating in 1957. He continued his education and received a master's degree in Orthodontics in 1961. After treating patients at his Ann Arbor practice for 40 years, he retired in 2001. He continues to serve as a part time instructor at the UM Dental School. Since retiring Dr. Buatti regularly attends sculpture classes at Eastern Michigan University and finds satisfaction from creating aesthetically pleasing three dimensional art from found objects, bronze, wood and steel.

His classmates suggested he commemorate their 50th year reunion by making something for his class. Dr. Buatti conceived and created this sculpture out of orthodontic and general dental instruments, thus integrating his two lifetime interests of art and dentistry. He has generously donated it to the Sindecuse Museum of Dentistry.
