The Impact of Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) on Craniofacial Osseous Regeneration in Bone
The Michigan Center for Oral Health Reseach (MCOHR) is seeking volunteers for a dental implant study. Eligible participants will receive an implant and crown at no charge to replace a missing tooth in the lower jaw.
Volunteers must meet the following initial criteria:
- Ages 30-85
- Missing lower back tooth (premolar or molar)
- Tooth extracted at least 12 months prior to screening
- No Liver or Kidney disease (incl. history of kidney stones)
- No Heavy smokers
- No Uncontrolled diabetes
- No Allergy to tetracycline

Biomarkers of Periodontal Disease Progression
The Michigan Center for Oral Health Research (MCOHR) is seeking volunteers to take part in a clinical research study. The purpose of this study is to find out which germs make gum disease worse.
The study requires you to come to our clinic for up to 14 visits.
To qualify, you must:
- Be at least 25 years old
- Have at least 20 natural teeth
- Have not used tobacco products for at least a year
- Be willing to delay dental cleanings for one year
Those who participate in this study will be paid for their participation. At the end of the study participants will receive a full dental cleaning.

Periostin and Gum Disease study
The Michigan Center for Oral Health Research (MCOHR) is seeking volunteers to take part in a clinical research study to evaluate levels of a protein called Periostin.
Major Inclusion Criteria:
- Aged at least 21 years
- In need of periodontal surgery (i.e. flap surgery, gingivectomy, crown lengthening)
- Periodontal (gum) disease OR healthy gums
- Must be a non-smoker for at least 12 months
- Overall good health
Eligible participants will receive periodontal surgery at no charge.

Bone Grafting and Dental Implant Study
Volunteers are needed for a clinical research study evaluating how a patient's own bone cells can help regenerate (grow) bone in the area of your jaw where there is not enough supporting bone for implant placement. This process is called Bone Repair Cell (BRC) Therapy.
Volunteers must meet the following major inclusion criteria:
- Between the ages of 20 - 70
- In need of a sinus floor bone graft in upper jaw and dental implant
- Must be a non-smoker for at least 6 months
- Overall good health

Have a Body Mass Index or BMI appropriate for bone marrow aspiration (Less than or equal to 25.9)
Eligible participants will receive bone graft, dental implant, and implant restoration (crown) at no charge.

Do you suffer from Migraines?
Volunteers are needed for a clinical research study using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging in people who get migraine headaches, and in healthy controls to identify factors that may be correlated with the severity of migraine attacks.
Volunteers must meet the following major inclusion criteria:
- Between the ages of 18 - 45
- Males or females
- Between 1 and 14 migraine attacks per month OR Healthy patients not experiencing migraines
- No history of other neurologic, systemic disorders, or chronic pain
Participation will involve:
- Up to 3 brain scans, approximately 1 - 3.5 hours each
Eligible participants will receive $25 per half hour, and transportation may be provided.

Do you suffer from Chronic Trigeminal Neuropathic Pain (TNP)?
Volunteers are needed for a 2-month research study using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging, as well as non-invasive brain stimulation (tDCS) in people who suffer from chronic trigeminal neuropathic pain (TNP), and in healthy controls to identify factors that may be associated with chronic pain in patients with TNP.
Volunteers must meet the following major inclusion criteria:
- Between the ages of 18 - 65
- Good general health
- Suffer from daily chronic trigeminal neuropathic pain (TNP) for at least 6 months OR Healthy patients not experiencing TNP
- Unilateral pain
Participation will involve:
- 1 MRI scan, approximately 2 hours each
- 2 PET scans with tDCS sessions, approximately 2 hours each

Do you suffer from Fibromyalgia?
Volunteers needed for a 2 - 3 month Fibromyalgia research study.
Volunteers must meet the following major inclusion criteria:
- Females between the ages of 18 - 75
- Continued pain more than 50% of days
- Willingness to limit the introduction of new medications/treatments during the study
- Not suffering from severe psychiatirc illnesses
- No routine, daily use of narcotic analgesics of history of substance abuse
- Meets the American College of Rheumatology (1990) criteria for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia (At least 1 year)
Participation will involve:
- 4 MRI brain scans, approximately 2 hours each session
- 5 active and 5 placebo daily sessions of non-invasive brain stimulation (tDCS)
Eligible participants may receive compensation up to $400.

Volunteers WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS that have both HEALTHY gums or those WITH GUM DISEASE are needed for a Periodontal (Gum) Disease study. This study involves collection of blood and plaque samples for measuring proteins linked to gum disease.
Major Inclusion Criteria:
- Age 35 and older
- Must have at least 20 permanent teeth
- Healthy gums or severe gum disease
- Patients WITH Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Must not be pregnant
- Must not have had periodontal treatment(s) in the last 12 months
Eligible participants will receive teeth cleaning and xrays at no charge.

Oral Health and Breast Cancer Survivors on Aromatase Inhibitors Study
Post-menopausal women with and without breast cancer are needed for an Oral Health Quality of Life study.
Major inclusion criteria:
- Post-menopausal females with and without breast cancer
- Must have at least 15 permanent teeth
- Women with breast cancer taking an aromatase inhibitor (Arimidex, Aromasin, or Femara) for less than 1 year
During the study you will:
- Visit the Michigan Center for Oral Health Research located at Domino's Farms for 1 visit
- Have a dental examination, including a sample of saliva and blood, and complete a survey
- Spend 2 - 3 hours per visit
Participants will receive $40 for completing the study
