Passphrase Guidelines

For security reasons, all users have their own login id and passphrase.

Guidelines For Choosing a Passphrase:

•A passphrase should be at least 8 characters in length and include letters, digits and punctuation marks. For example: "2th-ake!", or "r00t-66*" (using zeros instead of the letter 'o').

•Do not use a passphrase that is easy to guess. A passphrase must not be a name, nickname, proper noun. Do not use your birth-date or a number in your address.

•Do not use words spelled backwards.

•Use different passphrases on different systems. Do not make the passphrases reflect the name of any data system, such as Axium, MPathways, etc.

•Always keep your passphrase secret. A passphrase should never be written down or shared with another person. Change your passphrase if you suspect that someone else knows yours.

•Remember to log out or lock your computer before leaving.

Additional Guidelines for axiUm

•A passphrase cannot be reused until eight other passphrase have been used.

•Passphrases expire every 90 days starting from a random date in the past 90days.

•You will be notified 14 days before your passphrase expires via axiUm mail that your passphrase is about to expire.

It is your responsibility to protect your passphrase. It is recommended to have three possible passphrases in mind prior to logging into the system. If you have any questions or problems with creating your new passphrase, please call Dental Informatics at 3-3318.
