A. Limited merit-based scholarships are available. Admitted students will be evaluated for merit scholarships based on their admission materials. Students who are awarded scholarships will be notified approximately one month before the required enrollment deposit deadline.

Q. How do I apply for financial aid?

A. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The University of Michigan’s school code is 002325.

Q. How do I send documents to the financial aid office?

A. You may mail documents to the address listed on the About Us page, or fax them to (734) 647-6805, attention Mary Gaynor.

Q. When will I get my award notice?

A. Award notices are sent to students in mid-May. You will receive an e-mail telling you how to view your award notice on Wolverine Access under "Student Business", the database system that the university uses for student information and business.

Q. When will I receive my financial aid funds?

A. Financial aid will be applied to your student account. Any excess financial aid will be refunded to you on the first day of classes for each term either through direct deposit or in the form of a paper check. Direct deposit to your bank account can be arranged through Wolverine Access.

Q. When will I get billed?

Q. How do I see my account balance?

A. Student Financial Services generates your student bill, which can be viewed on Wolverine Access. Click here for information on how to view your bill.    (Although it says “Tips for Parents,” the information also applies to students).

Q. How do I get more money?

A. If your living expenses are greater than the standard budget, as indicated on the award letter, you can apply for additional funds by completing the Educational Expenses Worksheet. Please note that federal law prevents the inclusion of car payments and credit card payments in an educational budget. You will find copies of the Educational Expenses Worksheet outside of Mary Gaynor’s office at the School of Dentistry (Room G226) starting in late August.

Q. What about money over the summer break?

A. First-year students (D1s) receive financial aid for ten months of attendance. Because they are not enrolled for July and August after their first year, they are not eligible for financial aid for this time period.

Q. When can I meet with a financial aid officer?

A. Walk-in office hours with Mary Gaynor are Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room G226 in the School of Dentistry.
