Sabbatical Leave - provides an opportunity for an intensive program of research and/or study to enhance effectiveness to U-M as a teacher and scholar. Tenured instructional faculty who have completed six years of service in regular professorial ranks at the University are eligible. See PDF for a complete description of sabbatical leave policies, regulations, compensation and instructions on how to initiate a request.

Faculty should submit the Detailed Internal Sabbatical Leave Request Form along with the University of Michigan Form 36620, to the Department Chair.

Department Chair will forward the Internal Sabbatical Leave Request Form and Form 36620, along with his/her letter of support addressed to the Dean, to the office of Faculty Affairs, Room 1220.

Faculty Affairs will submitted to Sabbatical Leave Request to Dentistry HRSC (Human Resource Service Center) and HRRIS (Human Resource Records and Information Services.)

HARRIS will forward approval to the faculty member and copies to the appropriate units.

Faculty Retirement, Emeritus/Emerita Status - Faculty approaching retirement must send a formal letter addressed to the department chair stating his/her retirement plans. The department will forward a copy of the letter to Office of the Dean, Office of Faculty Affairs, Dentistry and Dentistry HR Service Center. Complete details online, U-M Faculty Handbook. |
