Dr. R. Scott Conley

Dr. R. Scott Conley received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College and his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he was also elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He received his orthodontic degree from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1999. After completing his orthodontic residency he joined the full time faculty at Vanderbilt serving as an Instructor for two years, then rising to Assistant Professor for the next five years. Dr. Conley joined the University of Michigan School of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry in 2006. He currently serves as the Graduate Orthodontic Clinic Director while also Co-Directing the Undergraduate Orthodontic Curriculum. He teaches in the graduate orthodontic clinic on Monday afternoons and teaches surgical orthodontics, principles of orthodontics and other courses within the department. Dr. Conley has received multiple awards including the Robert M. Ricketts Faculty Development Award from the AAOF, the 2005 and 2007 Edward H Angle Research Foundation Awards, and the 2007 American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Case Report of the Year in 2007. His clinical research interests include orthognathic surgery, obstructive sleep apnea, distraction osteogenesis, and orthodontic biomechanics. He has published articles in clinical journals or textbooks in each of these areas. He is a member of the multiple professional societies including the Edward H. Angle Society, American Association of Orthodontists, and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
