Dr. Airton O. Arruda

Dr. Airton Arruda, a native of Brazil, received his undergraduate education at Colégio Bandeirantes in São Paulo, and his dental education from the University of Mogi das Cruzes in São Paulo, finishing in 1975. He received a Master of Science in Dentistry (Orthodontics) at St. Louis University in 1981, and was a Research Fellow in Orthodontics at Harvard University the following year. He received a Master in Public Health from the University of Michigan in 2002 in epidemiological studies in orthodontics. Dr. Arruda is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (1995), the European Board of Orthodontics (1997), and the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics (2004). Dr. Arruda practices orthodontics here in the Dental Faculty Associates clinic. He began practicing orthodontics in 1982 and teaching at the University of Michigan in 2000. Dr. Arruda is the Clinic Director of our Department and teaches Tweed Edgewise in the graduate orthodontic clinic on Wednesday afternoons. Dr. Arruda and his wife Sandra live in Ann Arbor and have three children; Pedro, Ana, and Fernanda.
