Graduate programs in biomaterials leading to the Master of Science degree or Doctor of Philosophy degree are offered to qualified graduates who desire more fundamental education to prepare for careers in teaching or research.

The graduate courses leading to the Master of Science degree are designed for either dentists or others interested in further training and specialization. A minimum of 36 semester hours of credit (covering four terms and a spring half term) and a thesis describing studies on a suitable problem are required.

The courses for the Master of Science degree are divided into five groups: I. Core Courses; II. Advanced Dental Materials; III. Biostatistics; IV. Biological Sciences; and V. Engineering. Each candidate is required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of credit in Group 1, 6-9 credit hours in each of two focus groups, and 6 credit hours for a thesis.
