Recent Accomplishments

  • MiDent roll-out

The Dentistry Clinic Information system recently became MiDent, a suite of patient and academic clinical information. Student clinics have a new computer workstation at each dental chair, as does the pre-clinic simulation lab. Many processes support electronic records while other processes are in progress to change over to the electronic record capability afforded by MiDent. Tremendous university support enables our progression to a fully integrated information system that supports evidence based research. Numerous projects abound to swiftly move all areas of clinical treatment to the vision of reliable, highly available and state-of-the-art infrastructure that is secure, fiscally sound and has responsive support.

  • miTools roll-out

miTools is a suite of web pages brought together to support the School of Dentistry business. These web pages provide a consistent user experience for information searches and navigating departmental business and calendars. Academic course, clinic manuals, faculty and staff business are available in miTools presented over the web in your favorite browser. Electronic forms are easier to get approved and allow you to interact with key information while away from the School. Improved communication and ease of use are key elements to better enable the School's community to make optimal use of information technology resources.

    110 new computers in SimLab

In 2008 we successfully installed 110 Mac-minis into the Sim clinic. The workstations are currently being used for online testing. In 2009 we will look to fully implement MiDent into the Sim Lab for the D1 and D2 students.
