Infection Control
As part of its educational commitment to good oral health and quality dental care, the Office of Patient Services manages and maintains an active Infection Control program for the School of Dentistry. Stephen J. Stefanac oversees the School’s infection control program to assure it remains current with federal, state, county and local agency regulations for MI-OSHA and UM-OSEH. Constant monitoring for the latest information available on infection control from the American Dental Association, University of Michigan Medical Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also takes place.
Dental students and staff receive annual training for infection control guidelines from the School’s on-line infection control Web site. Daily monitoring of our undergraduate and graduate clinics assures proper protocols for infection control are followed. The School‘s infection control liaison group meets quarterly to discuss the various aspects of infection control and review its current processes to assure accuracy and compliance.
