Hospital Affairs
The School of Dentistry provides oral care to inpatients and outpatients of the University of Michigan Medical Center through its hospital-based programs in Hospital Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Pediatric Dentistry. Patients with significant medical problems and other disabling conditions present from across the state for care in a safe and effective manner. Additionally, referring services such as Cardiology, Transplant, and Radiation Oncology rely on the dental team to assure healthy oral status prior to proceeding with systemic therapy. Training is provided at multiple levels, including full-time residency training programs, two-week long rotations for 3rd years dental students, and both rotations and longer practica for dental hygiene students.
