Dr. Heys received his DDS in 1972 and a MS degree in Restorative Dentistry in 1975 from The University of Michigan, School of Dentistry.  

He began his teaching career in 1975 and also was active in the area of pulp biology.  In 1989 Dr. Heys became director of the third and fourth year predoctoral comprehensive care clinical program, a position which he holds currently.
