Dr. Clewell is a molecular biologist interested in the regulation of gene expression in bacteria. He and his research group focus on plasmid and transposon biology in enterococci in the context of the emergence and dissemination of multiple antibiotic resistance. Dr. Clewell is also interested in the regulation of glucosyltransferase in oral streptococci.
