Richard Fetchiet, director of external relations and continuing dental education, said, “With the public announcement of The Michigan Difference Campaign this past year, many alumni and friends of the School of Dentistry responded with generous commitments to the School. Support for faculty positions, student scholarships, renovation projects, and program initiatives will have a profound impact on our School both today and well into the future.”
Dean Peter Polverini expressed appreciation for the support. “Funding important needs will allow the School to continue its heritage of excellence in classroom education, patient care and clinical training, research, and community service. School of Dentistry graduates continue to demonstrate their loyalty and generosity and once again we are ranked among the University’s most supportive constituencies,” he said.
As of June 30, 2006 the School of Dentistry was at 82% of their $35 million campaign goal, with over $28 million in gifts and pledges received. Noting the importance of strong alumni participation, he added, “Be assured that every gift to this fundraising campaign . . . individually and collectively . . . will make a difference, The Michigan Difference.”
The generosity of so many alumni and friends of the School is extremely encouraging. Our benefactors have once again proven why the University of Michigan and its graduates are known as “Leaders and Best.”
On behalf of the students, faculty and staff of the School of Dentistry, please accept our sincerest thanks and heartfelt appreciation. We promise to be responsible stewards of your gifts and we will work to remain deserving of your loyalty, generosity and friendship.
