Postdoctoral Scholar Program

Program Overview

The University of Michigan School of Dentistry offers a very special and unique “Postdoctoral Scholar Program” for internationally trained dental school graduates. The Postdoctoral Scholar Program is a flexible program which is designed to meet the needs of internationally trained dental school graduates wishing to receive additional training in many areas of dentistry, such as pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics and restorative sciences. A postdoctoral Scholar attends school on a full-time basis. The curriculum includes classes with graduate dental students. The program is structured to allow a great deal of personalized instruction. Upon fulfillment of the program requirements, students receive a certificate of completion.

This program is not intended to prepare individuals to practice a specialty. It is expected that the individual will return to his/her country after gaining insights and improving his/her expertise in a specialized area for the practice, teaching and research of that subject.
