How to apply- ITDP
The application for the ITDP is now accessed online through the American Dental Education Association beginning in June 8, 2009. This one application, called the Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists (CAAPID) will allow you to apply to multiple schools.
THIS PROGRAM IS FOR FOREIGN GRADUATES....
For admission to the class entering May 2010, we will accept applications from June 8, 2009 through August 31, 2009.
Applicants should have and be prepared to submit the following items to CAAPID and directly to the School:
SUBMIT TO CAAPID:
- Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required. One letter should be from the Dean of the applicant's dental school. The second letter should be from a former dental school instructor able to evaluate the applicant's dental knowledge, skill, and potential for success in the ITDP. The third letter can be from someone of the applicant's choosing, preferably someone who can speak to the applicants personal character as well as their dental skills. All letters must be less than 1 year old by the date of submission. - Official Transcripts and Course-by-Course Evaluation
Applicant must submit to CAAPID a detailed evaluation by ECE. We will only accept ECE. If the applicant is admitted, then the program will require official transcripts from the previous dental program. Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) - 414-289-3400

Submit an application fee of $175 (US) via check or money order made payable to the University of Michigan. Please send to address found under Contact Us link. - National Dental Board Examination - Part I
Submit original score report. Successful completion of the National Board Part I with an average score of 84 or above is required (no section score below 75).
Joint Commission of National Dental Examinations- 312- 440-2678 - English Language Proficiency - TOEFL
Submit official scores of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Official scores are sent electronically to the School by ETS. A minimum score of 89 ibt (internet-based test) is required. As of January, 2009, computer-based and paper-based TOEFL scores are not accepted. Minimum scores do not guarantee acceptance.

Documented proof of license to practice from a Ministry of Health or appropriate governing body. - Certification of Finances
If you are admitted to the program and are not a US citizen or permanent resident, you will then need to submit financial certification documents in order for the University of Michigan to issue a student (F1) visa.
