Student Support Services
Academic Tutoring - Tutorial support is available for most didactic courses as well as preclinical courses. Course faculty identify students who may require support and refer them to the Dean for Student Services. Tutorial services are provided at no charge to the student.
University Health Service - UHS is a health care clinic located on the central campus of the University of Michigan. UM students, faculty, staff and others affiliated with UM are eligible to visit UHS. For students who are enrolled for the current semester on the Ann Arbor campus, most UHS services are covered by the health service fee, which is paid as part of tuition.
Student Health Insurance - Beginning with the FALL 2010 semester, the School of Dentistry will require all students (DDS, Graduate, Dental Hygiene) to have health insurance.
Students have the option to sign up for the Domestic Student Health Insurance Plan (DSHIP) or provide information on his/her comparable health insurance plan to waive out of DSHIP.
Counseling and Psychological Services - CAPS is a full-service university counseling center that serves the U-M student community and is a unit within the Division of Student Affairs. CAPS provides a full range of high quality psychological services to the U-M student community with the intent of fostering the psychological development and the emotional well being of students.
Services for Students with Disabilities - Services for Students with Disabilities (SSWD) provides services to students with visual impairments, learning disabilities, mobility impairments, hearing impairments, chronic health problems and psychological disabilities, so they may enjoy a complete range of academic and non-academic opportunities.
Students with Children - This website is dedicated to the needs of students at the University of Michigan who juggle parenting or elder care, study and work. It is maintained by the Work Life Resource Center (WLRC) and was created by the former Committee on Student Parent Issues (COSPI).
Work/Life Resource Center - The Work/Life Resource Center is a starting point for the University community to learn about resources and tools to promote work/life balance. Their services include help in locating childcare and eldercare, educational programs, consultation on flexible scheduling and child care leaves of absence.
