Dr. Harold Slavkin, director of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), said with an increasing emphasis on treating the whole body, health professionals need to expand their knowledge base, share information with one another, and learn to work together. He said "dentistry needs more medical knowledge and medicine needs more dental knowledge."
