Graduates of the Class of 2008 presented the annual Paul Gibbons Award to Dr. Kitrina Cordell. The award honors an instructor who graduating dental students consider to be the greatest influence on them during their four years in the predoctoral program.
Michael Hoffman, dental class president, said Cordell is a great instructor, a leader in research, and above all, a studentcentered person who cares about students, about how much we learn, and who we are.
Cordell, a clinical assistant professor of pathology in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine, said, Its an honor to accept this wonderful award considering how many great educators there are in this School.
Cordell, who is also associate director of the Schools Oral Pathology Biopsy Service [DentalUM, Fall 2006, pages 1826], attributed her success to teamwork.
Faculty and staff, she said, all work very hard to provide you with the most outstanding experience possible. …I am privileged to work with very wonderful people like yourselves and the people who are on stage behind me.
It was the second time Cordell received the award. The first was in 2006.
