Dr. Liu graduated from the West China University of Medical Sciences, College of Stomatology. After he had accomplished a doctoral degree in Prosthodontics, Dr. Liu came to the United States to further his education and completed a Ph.D. in the Skeletal, Craniofacial and Oral Biology Program and a certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Connecticut. In 2006, he came to Michigan to complete three years of postdoctoral training with support from the NIH-funded Training Program in Tissue Engineering and Regeneration and then began his appointment as Assistant Professor of Dentistry. Dr. Liu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and fellow of American College of Prosthodontists. He is also an active member of American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and Academy of American Fixed Prosthodontics.
Dr. Liu’s research interests are in the areas of signal transduction mechanisms that regulate physiological and pathological bone metabolism, skeletal and craniofacial bone development and diseases.
