Dr. Thomas Groom is a 1972 graduate of Denison University at Granville, Ohio (Biology). He received his DDS degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (Baltimore College of Dental Surgery) in 1976 and then began a military career in the United States Army Dental Corps. In 1989 he received his certificate of prosthodontics from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
In 2006, Dr. Groom retired from the Army and became a clinical assistant professor in prosthodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. In 2008, he was recalled by the Army and assigned as clinic chief at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Oahu, Hawaii. In August of 2013 he retired from that position after 35 years of active duty service and returned to the University of Michigan where he is now an adjunct clinical professor of prosthodontics.
