Job classifications and titles for staff are driven by the University's classification system.  Within the School of Dentistry, staff are classified based on the essential function of their duties which are mapped to positions defined in the Career Path Navigator job classification system. The HR Director has oversight for appropriate classification of staff positions and monitors both staff and faculty salaries to ensure compliance with compensation plans:

  • Maintain, review and approve staff job classifications
  • Monitor and review complex faculty salary structures for compliance with faculty compensation plans
  • Review for compliance with Fair Labor Standards for appropriate exempt/non-exempt classification status for staff positions
  • Conduct equity and labor market salary analysis
  • Review and approve salary changes 
  • Consult on reclassification requests and compensation issues
  • Review and facilitate submission of the annual salary program
  • Facilitate faculty/staff national salary survey partcipation
