What are the details I need to know for my first appointment?
For the initial dental appointment, patients are asked to come at least 30 minutes early to fill out necessary registration forms. Remember, being on time is important to ensure that the treatment you have been scheduled for will be completed. If you are late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule. What will happen at my first appointment?
Your first visit, which will take approximately an hour and a half, will include a thorough examination and radiographs (if needed). In most cases, a cleaning will be performed in a follow-up visit. If you have had dental radiographs (xrays) made within the past twelve months, you are encouraged to bring them with you to your first appointment. If the faculty dentist determines additional radiographs are required for covered services, those radiographs will be provided at no additional cost. If you are currently being seen by a physician or have a medical condition that requires special attention during your dental treatment, we may need a letter from your physician to help us provide you with the highest quality care.Who is responsible for my care?
When you subscribe to the M-DENT Dental Plan, you will be treated at the School of Dentistry by highly trained students under the supervision of licensed faculty dentists and hygienists. The plan has the benefit of offering dental care at a lower cost than in most private offices but will require a greater time commitment on the part of the patient. What services does the plan cover?
The plan emphasizes preventive care: that means we want to keep your teeth healthy. - 3 routine silver fillings (amalgams) or tooth-colored fillings (composites)
- emergency treatment for relief of pain
- emergency temporary fillings
Examples of services that are not covered:
